World NTD Day 2022

30 January 2022 is the third annual World NTD Day.

World NTD Day serves as a catalyst to translate awareness into action, secure increased resources for neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), and crucially facilitate political leadership and ownership of NTD programmes from affected countries. On 30 January we also celebrate World Leprosy Day, each year celebrated on the last Sunday of January. This international day is an opportunity to celebrate people who have experienced leprosy, raise awareness of the disease, and call for an end to leprosy-related stigma and discrimination.

WHO World NTD Day 2022

In May 2021 the 74th World Health Assembly recognized 30 January as World Neglected Tropical Disease (NTD) Day. This decision formalized 30 January as a day to create better awareness on the devastating impact of NTDs on the poorest populations around the world. In 2022, the WHO joins the NTD community in adding its voice to the global call with the first official WHO World NTD Day.

World Leprosy Day

This international day is an opportunity to celebrate people who have experienced leprosy, raise awareness of the disease, and call for an end to leprosy-related stigma and discrimination. The 2022 “United for Dignity” campaign calls for unity in honoring the dignity of people who have experienced leprosy.

World NTD Day

30 January sees the third annual World NTD Day - a global movement to end Neglected Tropical Diseases. Working under the banner of Uniting to Combat NTDs, with leadership from the World Health Organization and support from the Crown Prince Court of Abu Dhabi, more than 300 partner organizations from across the government, academia, donor, pharma, civil society and private sectors have joined together to support World NTD Day this year.

100% Committed Campaign

On Thursday 27 January 2022, ahead of World NTD Day on 30th January, Uniting will host a high level event to celebrate 10 years of the London Declaration; launch the 100% Committed campaign to ending neglected tropical diseases (NTDs); and, kick off endorsements and commitments for the Kigali Declaration.

Kigali Declaration

The Kigali Declaration on neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) is a high-level, political declaration which aims to mobilise political will and secure commitments to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG3) target on NTDs and to deliver the targets set out in the World Health Organization’s Neglected Tropical Disease Roadmap (2021-2030).
